Periodontology is a broad branch of dental medicine that deals with the treatment of gum and other periodontal tissues. Periodontal disease – periodontitis is the most common cause of tooth loss after the age of 35. With the help of an oral hygienist, a dentist determines the stage of the disease and makes a treatment plan accordingly.
